A question we get quite often is “Can I as a non-resident, get a concealed carry in NY?”
The short answer is Yes.
The requirements for a non-resident to get a New York Concealed carry license hinges around a very specific recent decision in New York City to change the way applications are handled to allow for non-resident applications.
In our article below, we discuss many things related to the NYPD emergency rule released on 08/06/2024 along with the new amendments that allow for a non-resident to be issued a license.
What a non-resident may be asking themselves at this point is “how do I do it?”
You’ll apply through the NYPD licensing portal.
For the most part you will be following the same steps as a New York City resident and choosing “Concealed Carry” as the license type, which we’ve laid out below:
If you’re interested in us taking care of that process for you, you may book that service below!
We also offer the NYS CCW course required to obtain your license.
Please note that the NYPD has not yet updated their portal to be able to have a non-NY safeguard, which is a person who will be taking responsibility for your firearms if you become incapacitated or die.
Expect to find a NY resident to perform this duty or let us know and we will assist you.
You must complete the 18-hour training course prior to your fingerprinting appointment which consists of a 16-hour classroom session, as well as a 2-hour live fire section. This will provide you both a formal education in pistols if you’ve never had one, as well as teach you the intricacies of the laws in NY, and of course have a test and shooting qualification at the end.
If you’re interested in taking this course with us, we’re more than happy to provide that service, and you can book below:
